EU won't discuss Belarus this month

From Charter 97:

A draft resolution on Belarus has not been placed on the agenda of the European Parliament`s June session in Strasbourg, MEP Bogdan Klich of Poland told BelaPAN on Tuesday.

He said that there were more urgent issues to decide upon, citing May`s unrest in Uzbekistan, which left hundreds dead.

The resolution that was expected to be debated at the June 6-9 session calls for the establishment of a network of regional radio stations for broadcasting to Belarus and sanctions against Belarusian officials allegedly involved in human rights abuse.

Mr. Klich said that the EP might consider the resolution at its next session scheduled for July.
