Bishkek: Central square cordoned off

From Interfax:

The Kyrgyz police have fully cordoned off the square in front of the government house in central Bishkek.

An Interfax correspondent reports from the scene that police and Interior Troops have cordoned off the square while the traffic police have blocked the square for traffic.

"The measures were taken to prevent possible provocations on the part of destructive elements," Interfax was told at the Interior Ministry leadership.

The police continue round-the-clock checks of passenger vehicles arriving in Bishkek. "This is done to prevent the transportation of people for organized disturbances," a ministry official said.
